Jesús Malverde Mexican Folk Saint Devotional Statue

$15.00

This unique statue depicts Jesús Malverde, a folk saint in Mexico also known as "Cjuba Lord," or "angel of the poor."

Known as a Robin-hood figure, according to lore, he took from the rich and gave to the poor before being killed by the police in the early 1900s.

He is venerated by the poor, those who wish to be protected from law enforcement, lovers of marijuana, and others. Though the press had labeled him “the narco saint,” he is also known for healings and other blessings. He is commonly seen with Santa Muerte, the Mexican folk saint of death.

Jesús Malverde (literally "bad-green Jesus") is depicted sitting in a black chair atop a gold base, wearing a black fedora, a black three-piece suit, and a red tie. He holds a bag of gold in one hand and a machine gun in the other. In his mouth is a delicate lit cigarette.

Imported from Mexico.
This hand painted plastic statue is about 5 inches tall.
