The use of sigils as a modern approach to magical practice and applied sorcery was developed by the artist/occultist Auston Osman Spare. In this workshop, Julian Vayne will introduce participants to the theory and history of sigil magic in all its form, from bind runes to the use of demonic seals in the grimoire tradition. We will also explore how sigils can be created in multiple modalities; as sound, as movement and by using digital technology.

We’ll investigate the relationship between sigil magic and marketing and outline the various ways in which sigil magic has been theorised by various magical practices. Participants will have a chance to design and empower their own sigil using simple, accessible, and effective techniques, as well as learning about ways in which we can allow sigil forms to emerge from the unconscious in trance states.
