The Residency - A Creative Residency Rooted in Music, Healing and Deep Listening Practices with Musician and Educator Mikey Kirkpatrick, Begins April 30
Five Week Class Taught Online Via Zoom
Thursdays, April 30 - May 28, 2026
6:00 - 8:00pm ET (NYC Time)
$160 Paid Patreon Members / $180 General Admission
PLEASE NOTE: Classes will be recorded and archived for students who cannot make that time
You are invited to be a resident artist, resident in your body, your home, your streets and parks, seas and dreams. Gather your tools, instruments and materials, and begin.
The Residency is a five-week class in music, healing, and deep listening, open to anyone at any stage of their journey who wants to use (or develop) creative practices to transform themselves and the world around them. It offers an altered state in which creative work moves into the heart of daily life, with the intention of activating our capacity to heal ourselves, others, and the environment.
Over five sessions, you will be guided through the journey of a musical scale—from root to octave—and its many possibilities and meanings. Each meeting will draw on the work of a wide range of artists and thinkers, while we explore everyday creative and life practices in relation to magic, trance, improvisation and mask work, ritual, divination, alchemy, worlding, and deep listening, grounded in Mikey’s own research and practice. There will be space to share and discuss work and process, to learn from one another, and to respond to emerging resonances and collaborative possibilities. An optional collective online presentation and a digital publication of work created in the class will form part of the MHDL (Music, Healing and Deep Listening).
Students will receive listening lists, audio/visual materials, readings, and a range of creative tools and prompts to explore each week. A shared digital journal space will support regular engagement and exchange between sessions. Ideally, participants will have a notebook, a way to record audio, and a way to take photographs and make short, simple films (a standard smartphone is sufficient). Though not essential, earphones or headphones are recommended, as listening materials often include subtle and low-frequency sounds. Mikey will offer regular communication and support throughout the five weeks.
The Residency encourages a gentle but steady daily practice during the course. Everyone is invited to engage in their own way, but for the richest experience, please allow at least 15–30 minutes a day for personal creative work.
Upon completion, students will be invited to join the Apollo Club, with free monthly online gatherings for the Residency community.
No musical experience is required, and the class is open to all.
This is Mikey Kirkpatrick’s fourth class for Morbid Anatomy. It grows out of his thirty years as a musician, reiki practitioner, composer, improviser, and performer; twenty years of teaching; and ten years directing Alchemy at Goldsmiths, University of London, a program recently nominated for the UK Music and Drama Awards for innovation in music education.
Mikey Kirkpatrick, based in London UK, is a flautist, singer, composer, improviser, writer and educator. He has performed on hundreds of streets and stages internationally, composed for film, stage and radio, and collaborated extensively with musicians and artists across different disciplines. He if the founding director of Alchemy at Goldsmiths University, where he is also an associate lecturer.
