In today’s fast-paced and often stressful world, making time for creative and meditative practices is an essential act of self-care and a powerful pathway to personal growth. In this presentation, Dr. Ledesma shares her own healing journey through the creation and journaling of mandalas. She proposes that drawing can become a contemplative practice—one through which we access inner peace and self-transformation. By engaging with our own mandala creations as a form of meditation, we cultivate deeper insight, clarity, and connection to the self.

Dr. Beatriz E. Ledesma, who grew up in Argentina, is a highly accomplished and experienced professional artist, educator, author, and clinician. She is self-employed at Ledesma Studio Ltd, which houses both her clinical and artistic practice. With more than 38 years in solo practice, Dr. Ledesma brings depth, insight, and expertise to her work. Her art practice—grounded in surrealism, symbolism, mysticism, spirituality, and ritual—reflects her lifelong interests and serves as a guiding foundation for healing and transformation.

Dr. Ledesma earned her degree in Fine Arts and Art Therapy from School of the Art Institute of Chicago and holds a doctoral degree in Social Work from Institute for Clinical Social Work. She recently published Mandalas: A Personal Journey in Mandala Journaling (2023) and From the Center (2022)—an interactive book and articles that lie at the intersection of art and psychology. Currently she is working on a children's book to honor the life of her deceased cat Babuska. She practices Kundalini yoga, rituals, and collects tarot cards which she uses for self-guidance, with clients, and from time to time she feels compelled to read them for others.
