If you’re exploring the transpersonal terrain, don’t leave home without frameworks and discernment tools that can help you safely navigate the beings you encounter along the way. It can be tough to make sense of the transpersonal relational space, but cultures throughout history have left helpful frameworks and categories that can assist us on our journey. History tells stories filled with encounters with light and dark beings. These beings have often been the explanations behind divine messages, inspiration, illness, possession, and other unexplained phenomenon. How do we adapt these understandings to meet the needs of the modern explorer?
This course will start with discussions around animism, sacred space, and protection. We will then explore various maps and categorizations of ‘dark energy’, which will provide tools of discernment, engagement, and (if needed) removal. We will explore questions like: are these beings just parts of our own psyche or not? How do we decide it is safe to connect with them? How do we relate to these beings in a safe and effective way?
Whether you’re a psychonaut, a psychedelic therapist, or a curious explorer of consciousness, this practical course will be a valuable addition to your practice.
Rich Tyois a mental health advocate, psychotherapist, musician, and arts educator. He teaches Psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy and MDMA-Assisted psychotherapy for Therapsil (a Canadian non-profit) and is a guest teacher for Fungi Academy, TAM integration, Medicinal Mindfulness, Morbid Anatomy, and Victoria Island University. For the last 13 years, Rich has supported individuals in their preparation and integration of transpersonal/psychedelic experiences with a transpersonal, somatic, relational, and harm-reduction lens. He facilitates experiential psychedelic practical space holding trainings in the Netherlands with the Fellowship of Psychonauts and has spoken internationally at conferences and events.
