Y ahora cómo mirarte! Original Oil Painting by Maria Pia Mosquera

$1,050.00

This piece is drawn from Maria Pia Mosquera’s Beautiful-Evil Things exhibition, which explores the enduring legacy of misogyny in mythology and its echoes in contemporary culture. Through a reexamination of classical myths—where women are punished for their beauty, their defiance, or their mere existence—this body of work reflects on how deeply these narratives have shaped societal norms and personal experiences. By confronting these stories, reclaiming their meaning, and honoring the resilience of women past and present, these works seek to challenge the normalization of violence and victim-blaming and act as a tribute to endurance, courage, and love—the most radical force for change.

250mmWx400mmH, framed

PLEASE NOTE: This piece ships from Australia and can take up to three weeks to arrive.

Maria Pia Mosquera (b. 1977) is a Colombian-born artist and designer, based in Sydney, Australia. Her current work explores our ambiguous relationship with death through imagery that challenges the macabre with wry humour, using the pervasive religious symbolism of Hispanic culture to bring the otherworldly into the everyday. Her work is held in various private collections in Australia and overseas.
