Oil Painting Portrait of Alfred Packer, Known as "The Colorado Cannibal", by Friese Undine

$390.00

One of countless gold and silver prospectors who embarked upon the Rocky Mountains hoping to strike it rich in the 1860s, Alfred Packer moonlighted as a wilderness guide in Utah and Colorado.

In the winter of 1873, a small band of prospectors lost their way in the frozen Colorado Rockies. Months later, when the snow finally melted, only Packer emerged.

Before his trial, Packer escaped from jail and evaded authorities for nine years, becoming the West’s most wanted man.

Oil on canvas

8 1/4 inches x 6 1/4 inches framed

Friese Undine (1965, Los Angeles) is a Brooklyn-based artist interested in psychology, primatology, human evolution, history, politics, cannibalism, and cabinets of curiosity.
