In this online talk, author and photographer Bryan Sansivero invites audiences into the rarely seen interiors of forgotten places—and into the myths, risks, and ethical complexities surrounding urban exploration (urbex). Drawing directly from his new book, America the Abandoned , Sansivero shares stories about his travels, how he obtained the pictures of abandoned sites, and the history behind the homes. What do people leave behind when they pass? What happens to their belongings? And why are so many of these homes left behind with everything inside? It's a reminder that things are just temporary, everything decays, and seeing these objects and places can remind us of our own mortality.

Bryan Sansivero is a renowned and award-winning photographer known for his colorful, evocative, and unique pictures of abandoned places. He is a filmmaker whose eye for detail and his documentative style will bring the viewer on an emotional journey into places rarely ventured or seen.
