These one-of-a-kind postcards feature whimsical taxidermy scenes created by eccentric Victorian taxidermist Walter Potter, including kittens enjoying a tea party and wedding ceremony, and funeral procession complete with pall-bearing sparrows. They are drawn from Walter Potter’s Curious World of Taxidermy, photographed by co-author and chief photographer Joanna Ebenstein.

Walter Potter (1835-1918), was a country taxidermist of no great expertise, who became famous as an icon of Victorian whimsy. His self-taught practice created quirky tableux such as tea-drinking kittens, rabbits doing arithmetic and gambling rats.

Set of 5; 3.5 x 5 inches
