If you died today, what of your possessions, your memories, your objects, your passions would speak to who you were and what you loved most in this life? When we die, our surviving loved ones will need the comfort of our presence. What if we could give them a space to feel that connection with us through visual, auditory, smell, and touch? This workshop is a place to explore and contemplate the things that will tell our story when we no longer can.
What we will take away from this workshop is a deeper understanding of ourselves, and why these sacred objects that represent who we are bring comfort to our loved ones after we are gone. Deeper self reflection, awareness of mortality, and feeling held in a space where these conversations are appropriate and safe. As a death doula and grief worker, I will provide a calming atmosphere and an open mind and heart for whatever revelations and feelings may arise in this workshop. Folks will also take away a self altar to reflect on after their time spent in the workshop.
What is needed to attend this workshop: For self altars, we suggest bringing in one small object that you would like to incorporate into your altar to personalize it (optional). Other than an open mind, to explore this sacred space…nothing else is needed to attend!
