Reiki, Death, and Dying: An Experiential Course with Psychotherapist Mikella Millen, Begins October 9

from $95.00

Three week class taught online via Zoom

Tuesdays, October 9 - 23, 2025
7 pm – 8:30 pm ET (NYC Time)
$95 Paid Patreon Members / $110 General Admission

PLEASE NOTE: All classes will be recorded for those who cannot attend live

Reiki is best known for its application to improve health, but it can also be used to assist us in “a good death.”

Reiki—a practice originating from Japan and developed by Mikao Usui in the 1920s—is most often translated as universal energy, or life-force energy. It can be understood as that essential quality that makes something alive— the difference between animate and inanimate. Reiki can help us contemplate what part of us may endure after our physical bodies have died, and assist in peaceful transition at end-of-life.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed, and this premise lays the foundation for Reiki as a venue to explore our relationship to death, whether we can still connect with those who have died, and supporting those at the threshold of this life and whatever lies beyond.

This three-week course will offer participants the chance to experience Reiki and its relationship to death and dying. Each class will include an overview of concepts and theory, followed by a guided exploration and Reiki practice. Participants will be invited to either lie down during the Reiki portion or use an expressive media of their choice (art, writing, or movement).

Mikella Millen, LCAT, ATR-BC is a licensed Art Psychotherapist, Reiki Master Teacher, and Medium. She has specialized in treating trauma and grief since 2009, and developed a unique approach to psychotherapy that incorporates Reiki into clinical practice. Mikella regularly teaches workshops using Reiki as a method for transpersonal connection.
