In-Herself-Ness: Understanding and Appreciating the Virgin Goddesses with Alicia King Anderson, Ph.D., Begins March 9
Eight Week Class Taught Online Via Zoom
Mondays, March 9 - April 27, 2026
7:30 - 9:30pm ET (NYC Time)
$125 Paid Patreon Members / $145 General Admission
PLEASE NOTE: Classes will be recorded and archived for students who cannot make that time
We commonly understand a virgin as one who has not yet been initiated into the mysteries of sexuality. But she can also be seen as someone who is one in herself, someone who is not defined by her relationships to others, be that mother, daughter or wife. These virgin goddesses often represent ideas seen as opposites: love and war, death and birth, civilization and wild nature.
In this 8-week course, we’ll take a deep dive into stories of these goddesses and their priestesses. From deities including Artemis, Athena, Mary, Hekate, Inanna and Hestia—alongside mythic humans like Daphne, Atalanta, and Callisto—we’ll examine powerful female figures who are independent and unconstrained by relationships. Join us to explore what it really means to be a “virgin” goddess and the many mysteries they hold.
Alicia King Anderson has a Ph.D. in Mythological Studies and Depth Psychology. Her dissertation on The Storyteller Archetype explores the responsibilities of storytellers. She is a mythologist and coach based in New Mexico.
