Tonight, we invite members of The Morbid Anatomy Online Journal at the $10/month and above level to join us for a free, live, virtual taxidermy-themed happy hour masquerade and costume contest, hosted by taxidermy collector J. D. Powe, curator of the Morbid Anatomy Museum exhibition Taxidermy: Art, Science and Immortality. Josh will also be sharing some of his taxidermical wonders from his collection for our enjoyment and edification, and will be delighted to answer any questions you might have.

For obvious reasons, we cannot provide refreshments, but our official cocktail maker, Friese Undine, will provide us all with a recipe so we can drink together.

Thank you, and hope to see you there!

Technology entrepreneur JD Powe has retained a fascination with natural history over his 25 year career in business. A passionate collector of rare and antique taxidermy, Powe has assembled one of the world's elite private collections of unique and historically important specimens. The extensive collection includes examples from a wide range of taxidermy genres, including Victorian anthropomorphic tableaus in the style of Walter Potter, zoomorphic functional objects, and hundreds of extinct and bizarre specimens from passenger pigeons and Carolina parakeets to aardvarks, wombats and binturongs. Powe has loaned specimens to support educational programming and public exhibits at the Morbid Anatomy Museum, and currently, to the Curious Creatures exhibit at the Adirondack Experience in Blue Mountain Lake, New York. His first taxidermy-themed book, Best Friends Forever: The World's Greatest Collection of Taxidermy Dogs, featuring examples from his own collection as well as many others, is due out this June.
