Morbid Anatomy Code of Conduct

At Morbid Anatomy, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful community where all individuals feel welcome and valued. As a participant in our classes, events, trips, and library hours, we expect all members of our community to adhere to the following code of conduct:

Open Dialogue and Consideration:

  • Understand that our classes, discussions, and library materials may cover topics that can be controversial, triggering, or emotionally challenging for some individuals.

  • Morbid Anatomy aims to foster an environment of vibrant dialogue, open-minded curiosity, and respectful exchange of ideas, while being mindful of the diverse experiences and sensitivities of others.

  • Please approach discussions of difficult topics with empathy and consideration, recognizing that different perspectives enrich our learning experience.

Respect for Others:

  • Treat every community member with dignity and respect, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, religion, ability, or any other protected class.

  • Hate speech is not tolerated at Morbid Anatomy.

  • Refrain from engaging in discriminatory or anti-social behavior, including but not limited to harassment, bullying, or microaggressions.

  • Respect personal boundaries and use common sense. Determine proactive, explicit consent in interpersonal relationships within the community; if someone communicates a boundary, such as asking to not be contacted, respect their wishes and refrain from further communication.

Safe Learning Environment:

  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment where all participants feel comfortable expressing themselves and sharing their thoughts and experiences.

  • Refrain from disrupting class discussions or activities in a way that detracts from the learning experience of others.

  • Be mindful of the impact of your words and actions on others, and strive to contribute positively to the overall classroom atmosphere.

Digital Communication:

  • Use the chat function during lectures and online discussions responsibly, refraining from posting inappropriate, offensive, repetitive, or unwelcome content.

  • Respect the privacy and boundaries of others when engaging in digital communication, and refrain from engaging in cyberbullying or harassment.

Grand Tours:

  • Respect the guidelines and instructions provided by trip leaders and organizers during sponsored trips.

  • Be mindful of the impact of your behavior on the experience of fellow participants and the communities we visit.

  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the well-being of yourself and others.

Library Etiquette:

  • Respect the library space and materials, keeping noise levels to a minimum and handling resources with care.

  • Refrain from bringing food or drink into the library.

  • Be considerate of other library users by maintaining a clean and organized environment.

  • Refrain from engaging in disruptive behavior or activities that interfere with others' ability to use the library resources.

Reporting Violations:

  • If you witness or experience behavior that violates this code of conduct, please report it to a staff member, organizer, or online to education@morbidanatomy.org immediately.

  • We take all reports of misconduct seriously and will take appropriate action to address violations and maintain the integrity of our community.

By participating in Morbid Anatomy classes, events, trips, and library hours, you agree to abide by this code of conduct and uphold the values of our community.

Thank you for your commitment to creating a welcoming and respectful environment for all.
